Government has identified Medical Devices and Diagnostics as Strategic growth sectors for Hyderabad. In this context, Government had established the Country’s largest Medical Device Park spread over 276 acres in Hyderabad. Since its launch in 2017, the park has received overwhelming response for the park with over 25 companies lining up to set up manufacturing / R&D units. Sahajanand Medical Technologies(SMT) is setting up the Asia’s largest stent manufacturing facility (1 Mn stent capacity) in the park.

Comprehensive and vibrant multi-disciplinary ecosystem of Hyderabad clearly differentiates the city from the rest of the country and region. Hyderabad has a dominant position in Life Sciences and Technology and has also come to be known as the Healthcare hub of the country. In addition, Hyderabad has numerous companies with expertise in plastics, precision engineering, electronics, etc., all of which are vital for medical device innovators and manufacturers. As a natural outcome, the city is already making rapid strides in redefining healthcare.

Government has adopted a holistic approach towards the sector – Innovation, Scale-up and Manufacturing. While the 20+ innovation centers in Hyderabad support the innovation focus, Government has established the country’s largest prototyping center called T-Works to support the development activities. Medical devices park support the manufacturing activity.

Key highlights of the park include:

  • Strategic location – located on the 8-lane express Hyderabad Outer Ring Road, it is well connected to domestic markets via road and logistics network, and also connected to ports on eastern and western coasts by national highways
  • Strong incentive structure – the government promises to meet or beat offers from other states to make this your location of choice
  • Ecosystem of Suppliers – Has largest concentration of defense R&D institutions in India, resulted in nurturing of over 1000+ SMEs in precision engineering. Home to over 6000+ plastics manufacturers – capable of handling multiple types of materials
  • Excellent talent – consisting of academic research & training centres (Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Central Institute of Tool Design, Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology, Advanced Research Center for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials etc.), engineering and medical institutes (IIT, IIIT, JNTU, BITS Pilani, Osmania, Gandhi Medical etc.)
